Amsonia hubrichtii (Arkansas Blue Star) 3ft   Z4-9 Sun-pt shade
This plant is native to the southern states in North America, but performs admirably in our Zone 4 climate. The light blue flowers resembling those of Agapanthus arrive here for us in early June. The foliage is almost feathery, a texture that is difficult to find in a hardy perennial. One of the main assets of this plant is its fabulous fall color - a bold yellow tinted chartreuse. Great in combination with Sedum 'Autumn Fire',grasses of medium height (Pennisetums, Miscanthus, etc.) or in front of a purple-leaved Cotinus. A great addition to fall designs. Please note that the Amsonias are noted for their late emergence in spring.
